Comments - Interesting book featuring many pages of stories from all over, with 9 black and white diptych woodblock illustrations. The subjects include a monk traveling along a river, a panoramic view of a palace amidst fields, travelers in the mountains, a monk shaving a boy's head, a monk watching a feudal procession, a monk kneeling beside a river, a yamabushi or mountain priest encountering a snake, beauties viewing cherry blossoms, and a house in the country with straw mats laid out on the ground before it. A handsome range of subjects with fine detail in the landscape settings.

Image Size - Diptychs 8 1/4" x 12" + margins as shown (one diptych is smaller at 8 1/4" x 8 1/8" + margins); closed book 10" x 6 7/8" x 1/4"

Condition - With excellent detail as shown. Pages slightly soiled and creased with wear at edges. A few small holes in a few text pages. Paper covers soiled, worn, creased, faded, and rubbed. End papers loose, torn, and creased. Title slip on cover torn and loose. String binding intact. Please see photos for details.
