Comments - Handsome, complete volume 4 from an illustrated biography of Shinran, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect of Buddhism. This book is illustrated with 9 black and white diptych woodblock prints. Includes four panoramic views of different temples, a scene of rays of light radiating from the water as witnesses react in surprise, two views of monks in an interior, a procession through the countryside, and samurai troops heading to war. An interesting book with finely detailed images and many pages of text.

Image Size - Diptychs 8" x 11 3/4" + margins as shown; closed book 9 3/4" x 6 7/8" x 1/4"

Condition - With excellent detail as shown. Pages slightly soiled and creased. Paper covers soiled, worn, creased, and rubbed. Title slip on cover is torn and loose. String binding intact. Please see photos for details.
