Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Shipwreck Victim

Meiji Era Kabuki Reprints - Handsome design from a group of kabuki scenes by popular woodblock artists, including Toyokuni III, Kunichika, and Yoshitoshi. These terrific, small-format designs are meticulously carved and printed, with fine line work, attractive color, and soft bokashi shading like the originals. Some include deluxe treatments such as embossing or burnishing. They likely were created as book illustrations, since most feature two folds like traditional kuchi-e book frontispieces. These beautifully published, Meiji era reprints are a great choice for a kabuki enthusiast.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - Approximately 8 1/4" x 5 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Two light creases in subject. Please see photos for details. Very nice overall.
