Love for a Street-walker

Series; Eight Famous Views of Women

Love for a Street-walker - Attractive portrait of an Edo prostitute hurrying through the streets. She wears a black outer robe over layers of colored kimono, tucking her hand into the obi at her waist. A white scarf is draped over her head, the edge caught between her teeth, and loose wisps of hair frame her face. A charming design with fine line work in the hair and a subtle burnished geometric pattern in the black kimono collar.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse along top edge from previous folio mounting. Small thinning spot at top right, repaired, blends well. Faint . Please see photos for details. Good overall.
