Original Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty and Chinese Man, 1861

Comments - Interesting Yokohama-e scene of a beauty chatting with a Chinese Man. She leans forward with a smile, gesturing with her hands as he does the same. He wears a black jacket over white pants, and a small round black cap, his long braid reaching almost to the floor. She wears a kimono shaded from blue to soft pink, bordered with white cherry blossoms and tied with a blue-green obi with a black diamond pattern. A great example of Japanese woodblocks depicting foreigners in Yokohama.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 9 3/4" x 14 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Some creasing and staining in subject. Some rubbing and soiling. Some wrinkling and a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
