Sosano no Mikoto, No. 35 - Intriguing image of the Storm God Sosano no Mikoto, the brother of the Sun Goddess, who was exiled to an area called Izumo. There he found an old couple weeping over their daughter, their only child living after a serpent with many heads had eaten the rest of their children. Sosano killed the beast, and married the daughter. The inset above shows Sosano confronting the snake. A moving, expressive image, finely detailed with delicate embossing in Sosano's robe.
