Prosperity of the Newly-built Meganebashi (Spectacles Bridge) at Kanda Sujikai, Tokyo, 1873

Comments - Terrific depiction of the newly-built Meganebashi or Spectacle Bridge at Kanda Sujikai in Tokyo. The bridge is so-named for the appearance of the arches joining with their reflections in the water below, which resembles the round lenses of a pair of eyeglasses. The modern stone structure is packed with travelers on foot and in rickshaws, in both traditional and Western dress. Pleasure boats and cargo ships make their way along the river below, gliding under the arches. A lively scene with wonderful color and detail.

Artist - Kunisada III (1848 - 1920)

Image Size - 28 5/8" x 14 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and details. Three separate panels. Some toning and staining at edges. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
