Ichimura Uzaemon as Shimobe Shikazu, 1861

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichimura Uzaemon as Shimobe Shikazu. He leans forward with a worried frown, reaching for the hilt of his sword. He wears a blue kimono bordered with colorful flowers, tied with a red striped obi and tucked up at the waist for easier movement. A curtain hanging overhead features a design of swallows flying in a rain storm with lightening and clouds above. A nicely detailed and colored design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 1/2"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Vertical center fold, vertical fold near right edge. Slight soiling and creasing, faint staining near bottom edge. Please see photos for details.
