Onoe Kikugoro Playing Sasara

Comments - Attractive image of Onoe Kikugoro as a beauty playing sasara, a percussion instrument composed of a bamboo whisk and a notched bamboo stick, the two sticks rubbed together rhythmically. She is dressed for traveling, wearing a colorful kimono patterned with undulating stripes and fluttering sparrows, edged in a variety of prints, and tied with a wide diamond print obi. A straw hat hangs at her side, and the striped cloth tied around her head matches a sash around her waist. A handsome, large-format design from the early years of color woodblock prints, rarely seen in reprint.

Artist - Masanobu (circa 1686 - 1764)

Image Size - 25 5/8" x 9 3/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Faint toning, creasing, slight soiling. Please note: folded twice by publisher for storage, will be shipped folded, could be flattened to frame. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
