Forty-eight Hawks Drawn from Life - Terrific design from Sugakudo's most well-known series, "Forty-eight Hawks Drawn from Life." A student of Hiroshige, Sugakudo was known for his high quality kacho-e, prints of birds and flowers. This lovely series depicts many varieties of birds in their natural habitats, carefully observed and drawn with fine detail and attractive color. Many feature deluxe techniques such as embossing in the feathers or backgrounds. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this series in its collection. A favorite with collectors, these lively and colorful, traditional Edo era prints are a wonderful choice to collect or display.
