Takasugi Shinsaku - Great design of the Edo era samurai Takasugi Shinsaku seeking refuge at the home of his old friend, Nomura Boto, while fleeing from an enemy. His friend's wife answers the door as he stands at the garden gate, his woven hat in hand as evening falls. A wonderfully detailed and atmospheric setting, with burnishing in the black kimono and collar.
