Sawamuro Sojuro III and Segawa Kikunojo III

Comments - Lovely Sharaku image of the Sawamuro Sojuro III as the samurai Nagoya Sanza and Segawa Kikunojo III as the courtesan Katsuragi in the play "Keisei Sanbon Karasaka." Sanza was banished from his clan after a precious scroll in his care was stolen, and the play details his efforts to find the scroll and restore his honor. He stands quietly behind the beauty, looking down with a rather lovelorn expression. She clasps her hands together, looking to the side suspiciously, her lips firmly pursed. Her black outer kimono is bordered with cherry blossoms, the fabric trailing onto the floor around her. A handsome design with fine color and detail. Great, shimmering mica background that emulates the original.

Image Size - 15 3/8" x 10 1/8"
