At lower left a woman kneels beside a koto while the beauty behind her looks through a book with a woodblock print on the cover. In the center, a musician plays a kokyu, an instrument similar to a shamisen but played with a bow. At lower right, a courtesan looks up from her flower arranging, a cherry branch in her hand and an ornate vase on a low stand before her.
