The Secrets of Strategy: Chapter 5

Series; Biography of Yoshitsune, 1848 - 1852

The Secrets of Strategy: Chapter 5 - Terrific illustration of the young Ushiwakamaru, the future Yoshitsune, waiting inside an inn for the great robber Kumasaka Chohan to attack. Chohan and his gang of thieves preyed on travelers, ambushing them at inns and post stations. He stands at the entrance, dressed in full armor and gripping a naginata, unaware that the agile swordsman is ready for him, glaring down angrily. The youth crouches below the window, his sleeves tied back with a blue sash and sword raised, ready to strike. In the ensuing battle, Ushiwakamaru defeated the notorious bandit, earning acclaim for his skill. Wonderfully expressive figures and a handsomely detailed setting. A great samurai subject from the early life of the legendary swordsman Yoshitsune.
