Couple and Mt. Fuji, 1857

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a couple onstage with a magnificent backdrop of Mt. Fuji behind them. The beauty grins as she looks up, tying a yellow sash around her waist. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with ribbons and clusters of tiny blue flowers. The samurai stares over his shoulder with a wary frown, both hands on his swords, reading to act if necessary. His black kimono features a subtle burnished geometric design, and he has a blue cloth sack tied over his shoulder. Lovely color and detail in this attractive subject.

Image Size - 19 1/4" x 14 1/2"
