Comments - Terrific portrait of the great warrior Sasaki Takatsuna mounted on a dappled white horse given to him by Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Takastuna earned fame for racing the horse across the Uji River in a contest to be the first to reach the enemy on the opposite shore during the 1184 Battle of Uji. He won the race against his fellow samurai, Kajiwara Kagesue. A great bold design with lovely shading in the background.
