Yata Goroemon Suketake Shaking His Sword at Barking Dogs
Series; Mirror of the True Loyalty of the Faithful Retainers, Individually, 1857
Yata Goroemon Suketake Shaking His Sword at Barking Dogs - Great image from the famous tale of the 47 ronin showing the warrior Yata Goroemon Suketake waving his sword at three snarling dogs as he scales the wall to Moronao's castle for the final attack. The inset above shows a large figure made of snow. Beautifully detailed with a spattering of hand-applied pigment to indicate snow falling over the samurai as he climbs. A terrific samurai subject from this fascinating and rarely seen 47 Ronin series. A great choice for a collector.
