War Council Before the Battle of Yamazaki

Comments - Dramatic scene of a war council taking place before the decisive 1582 Battle of Yamazaki. Tempers flare during a confrontation over tactics, with the kneeling warrior at right angrily arguing his point. Akechi Mitsuhide sits on a folding stool at left, his eyes bulging with rage, tightly gripping his tasseled command baton. He wears an elegant suit of armor with a dragon on the chest plate and a horned battle helmet topped with a dragon. The other samurai react with a range of expressions, grimacing and shouting, some frowning with quiet displeasure. Flames and smoke rise from a roaring bonfire at right, the group seated within an enclosure of tent walls emblazoned with the Akechi mon or crest. A great image, beautifully colored and detailed.
