Dancing Cat and Child

Comments - Strange kabuki scene of a young child dancing with a large yellow and white cat. The child smiles happily, waving his arms to and fro above his head as the cat mimics his moves, all the while eyeing him keenly. The beauty looks on with a horrified expression, her mouth agape. She wears an elegant kimono shaded from plum to green with a pattern of colorful chrysanthemum and peony blossoms. The standing screen behind her features a maple leaf design. A fantastic supernatural subject, wonderfully colored and detailed with delicate embossing in the white kimono trim and soft shading in the night sky.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 9 5/8" x 14 3/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Backed with stiff paper. Some light toning at edges. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
