Young Samurai in a Cherry Blossom Kimono

Comments - Wonderful kabuki portrait of an actor as a young samurai, dressed in a beautiful red kimono patterned with white cherry blossoms and buds. He looks over his shoulder wide-eyed, his eyebrows raised, as he holds one sword and reaches for the other. His hair is pulled back into a thick, bushy topknot, secured with white cord, and his face is delicately shaded with pink around the eyes. A terrific full oban size Osaka actor portrait. Beautifully printed with burnishing in the black kimono collar and fine line work in the hair. A fine choice for a collector interested in kamigata-e, prints from the Osaka region.

Artist - Yoshitaki (1841 - 1899)

Image Size - 9 3/4" x 14 1/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Minor paper remnants on reverse. Please see photos for details. In very nice condition overall.
